The Royal Coach

The Royal Coach, snugly settled in Kaapsche Hoop's distinctly beautiful surroundings, offers unique accommodation and old-time romance. Formerly used by the Queen during HRH's 1947 visit, this converted three-bedroom carriage maintains its original character and charm, providing a restful but fresh atmosphere.

The carriage itself can sleep six, with two double beds and one three-quarter bed, and has two bathrooms, both with original bath-tubs, one en-suite, one independent. It also has an entrance at each end with an interior dividing door that separates one bedroom from the other two, promoting both cosy intimacy and privacy when desired.

Situated a short distance from Battery Creek waterfall and an extraordinary edge-of-escarpment view into the Barberton valley, as well as the host of historical and aesthetic sights that the village of Kaapsche Hoop offers, The Royal Coach is ideal for visitors looking simply to get away and relax and for wanderers seeking new viewpoints. It also provides a convenient and memorable stay-over for travellers making their way to the Kruger National Park or Mozambique.

Though the Royal Coach itself does not have a kitchen, it is located just a short walk from the Salvador Bistro, which offers meals throughout the day and which, during the winter, is atmospherically warmed by the community's most prominent fireplace. In addition, there are a number of other restaurants all within walking distance, affording choice and personality.
